As this year comes to an end, we begin to brainstorm fun ways to celebrate the New Year.

Some individuals take this time to get buck wild and forget about the previous year, while others reflect on the good and bad of the previous year.

Either way, it is important that the New Year is celebrated. To ensure this year will be a good one, we have put together our unique ways to bring in the New Year.

New Year's Eve

1. Classic New Year’s Eve Party

Look for fun events around your local city to attend. Almost every city provides fun opportunities around town to attend on New Year’s Eve. You can find a variety of options, whether you are looking for a wild pre-paid party – alcohol and food included – or a romantic dinner at a local restaurant.

2. Host a Dinner Party

Invite your friends over for a classy seven-course formal dinner. Have each of your guests bring a different entrée so you aren’t stuck doing all the tough work. This is a great excuse to get old and new friends together to enjoy great conversations over a festive meal.

3. Themed Holiday Party

What is your favorite part of the year? Well, why wait until then to celebrate? Ask your friends to come over in Halloween costumes, Fourth of July attire, Santa suits, or whatever floats your boat. Serve food and drinks according to the theme of the evening, and come up with unique ways to incorporate the theme into your night.

4. Masquerade Ball

Who doesn’t enjoy getting dressed up in formal attire for a special evening? Go all out this year and ask your guests to dress up in their fanciest ball gowns and suits to reign in 2014. Hire a classic band to keep the guests dancing all evening long. Serve the bubbly in champagne flutes, serve chocolate covered strawberries, and make this the classiest New Year’s Eve ever.

5. Tasting Party

Ask your friends to each bring a different drink. You can assign guests to bring the signature beverage of a specific US state or keep it open-ended. Spend an evening tasting the wines of California, the whiskeys of Tennessee or a variety of different beverages.

6. Volunteer Opportunities

Helping out those less fortunate is a great way to bring in the New Year. There are typically many volunteer opportunities around local cities on New Year’s Eve. Some events require you to volunteer your time, while other events have charitable ties associated to them.

7. Around the World

Seeing that it’s impossible to actually travel the globe in one night, host a party featuring places you want to travel in the New Year. Enjoy a romantic champagne stroll through the lit up streets of Paris overlooking the Eiffel tower, have a spaghetti dinner in Italy, chocolate dessert in Switzerland and keep your guests awake by sipping on Irish coffees in Ireland. Get creative incorporating your travel wish list into a party event.
